Minimalist tower defense game

Thronefall, developed by GrizzlyGames, is a premium action game. It offers a minimalist tower defense experience, where players construct their kingdom, earn resources, and protect it from enemies. Players must employ tactical and strategic thinking to compete for every resource and objective to succeed.

During the early phases of Thronefall, you'll be solitary, equipped with just a modest coin reserve to begin erecting your kingdom. Effective resource management is paramount as you wield full authority over their allocation, whether for constructing various edifices like dwellings or mills or fortifying defensive systems.

Strategy and tactics in this game

In the Thronefall game, you have just three key elements to oversee—upgrades, soldiers, and gold coins. Each day, your main task is to explore the nodes on the map and carefully decide how to allocate your gold for construction. Building new mills and houses will boost your gold income, whereas barracks, walls, and watchtowers will enhance your defensive capabilities.

At night, you confront swarms of enemies, each with distinct unit types, surging from various directions. Your armies automatically prioritize the nearest threats, but you can control and maneuver them in smaller groups. Additionally, your commander actively engages in combat, dealing damage to the enemy forces. This combination of elements offers a delightful blend of strategy and tactics, making it an engaging experience for city builders seeking a balanced approach.

Within this game, you can unlock 37 perks and weapons such as spear, bow, and sword while enjoying the challenge of four distinct playable levels. Each level’s design undergoes significant transformations, compelling you to adapt your strategic approach accordingly. Nevertheless, one downside of the game is its limited number of levels, which may lead some players to experience boredom over time.

Quest-making event for everyone

Thronefall kicks off its first-ever Quest Fair to make in-game questing more exciting. In it, players can design their own quests for the four levels: Nordfels, Durststein, Frostsee, and Uferwind. Submissions can only be submitted once, though, and must be done so through the #questfair channel on the Discord server. One quest per level will be picked as the winner.

Encouraging creativity and strategy, entrants can only design quests based on existing in-game elements. No new weapons, enemies, or perks must be used. Plus, the quest rules should be written shortly and concisely. Of course, the developers have prepared handsome rewards for the winners — in-game implementation of their designed quest, two Steam Keys that can be shared with friends, a Champion Discord role, and a permanent spot in Discord and Steam’s Hall of Fame.

Challenging city-building experience

In the initial stages of Thronefall, you'll find yourself alone, armed with only a modest coin supply to kickstart your kingdom construction. Effective resource management is crucial as you have complete control over how you allocate them, whether it's for building diverse structures like houses or mills or for fortifying defensive systems.
